Description - About Product

Red Amaranth Seeds

Red Amaranth is a versatile leafy vegetable and grain, distinguished by its vibrant red or purple leaves. It belongs to the Amaranthaceae family and is packed with nutrients, offering a rich source of vitamins A, C, and K, protein, calcium, iron, and antioxidants.

The leaves of Red Amaranth have a sweet, earthy flavor and a tender texture, making them a delightful ingredient in a range of dishes, from salads to stir-fries to soups. In addition to its culinary versatility, Red Amaranth stands out for its resilience and adaptability, capable of growing in diverse climates and soil types.

Beyond its uses as a leafy green, the seeds of the amaranth plant are also utilized as a nutrient-rich grain, being a superb source of protein and amino acids, making it a staple in many global cuisines and a crucial part of a balanced and healthful diet.

Grow Instructions

Pre-Soak: No

Growing Medium: Soil or Hydroponic

Germination: Amaranth should not be weighted.  They will take 2-3 days to germinate.  You need to keep an eye on them as they are very sensitive.  They do well under dark or very low light.

Watering: Mist lightly (no bottom-watering trays)

Grow stage: Amaranth like temperature in the 24 Celsius area.  Ensuring stability of temperature is important to ensure good growth.

Harvest: About 14 days during colder weather and up to a few weeks for warmer weather.  Because they are very light you will want to use scissors rather than a knife.
