Carrot microgreens are a good source of fiber, which can help control blood sugar levels by slowing the rate at which carbohydrates are absorbed into the bloodstream. In addition, the glycemic index of carrot microgreens is low, which means that their consumption does not cause a sudden spike in blood sugar levels.
Carrot microgreens are also rich in important nutrients, such as vitamins A and C, which can help reduce inflammation that is increased in people with diabetes.
Avocado is a fruit high in oleic acid which is essential in the diabetic diet. Studies show that when carbohydrates are replaced by monounsaturated fatty acid sources, better glycemic control is achieved.
Avocado also contains a compound called avocatin B that prevents incomplete oxidation in skeletal muscle and in the pancreas, which helps reduce insulin resistance.
Green vegetables such as spinach are very beneficial for people with diabetes because they provide volume to the preparation and very few calories. In addition, they contain fiber that helps to increase the feeling of satiety. Finally, green vegetables are an excellent source of anti-inflammatory compounds that help reduce the chronic low-grade inflammation that occurs in people with diabetes.
Turmeric and its active ingredient, curcumin, provide a potent anti-inflammatory effect to this smoothie. Thanks to the cayenne pepper, turmeric is much better absorbed, and the body can make better use of it.
Radish microgreens in powdered form are noted for their ability to improve glucose utilization by the cells and thus decrease insulin resistance. In addition, radish microgreens have a high concentration of nutrients, including vitamins C and B, calcium, iron, magnesium, and zinc, which are beneficial to overall health and can help prevent complications associated with diabetes.
Pea microgreens powder may be beneficial for people with diabetes due to their supply of soluble fiber, a type of fiber that forms a gel in the digestive tract and helps slow the rate of sugar absorption.
This smoothie has a low glycemic index and the serving size should be respected so as not to generate an overload of carbohydrates.
